Smideo FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
HD Sample Video
A sample video generated by Smideo can be found here, there you'll also find a link to a downloadable sample video with HD resolution. Please understand that the video uses only SD pictures and a low quality video from youtube, so using higher quality sample material should even give you higher quality results.
Embedding Smideo videos on websites
Some of our customers wanted to embed the generated videos into their websites. As there're a lot of ways and systems to include videos into websites (we're using the Flowplayer for example), we recommend the most simple solution to our customers: Register with or login to Youtube and upload your video there. As sson as you can watch it on Youtube, you can right-click the video and select "Copy embed HTML", which copies the needed HTML code to put into your website. Now you can use your usual way to update your website and include this HTML code - and your Smideo is on your website.
Problems with Codecs
Description: While Smideo works, generates videos and even opens the wizards, it needs system codecs to access the audio, picture and video files. If an error pops up, it is possible that during the installation of the codecs something could not be installed or that another program changed some of the needed codecs.
Solution: Try to install the following Codec-Pack (about 19MB download): K-Lite-Mega-Pack. If this pack wants to uninstall old or problematic codecs, please allow it to do that. If the problem is still unsolved, it can also be a problem with your Windows Media Player, that Smideo needs to work. In this case, try installing this setup: Windows Media Player Codecs.
Problems playing the video
Description: If the video was generated, your codecs are most likely working the way they should. Sometimes our customers still report that there's small glitches or errors in the video or audio while playing the smideo-video. If the codecs are working correctly, these are issues with DirectX or the videocards or the audiocards drivers.
Solution: First try updating your DirectX installation. You should be able to do that with this setup from Microsoft. Should there still be issues, try updating your video card drivers and your audio hardware's drivers. Consult the website of your video or audio hardware's manufacturer on how this can be done.
